Janney Montgomery Scott Ordered to Pay Customer $650,000

An NASD arbitration panel ordered Janney Montgomery Scott to pay investors $650,000 to compensate them for damages that they suffered as a result of Janney Montgomery's and its broker's improper conduct. The investors accused Janney Montgomery and its broker of, among other things, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, negligent misrepresentation, violations of applicable securities industry standards and rules, violation of state and federal laws, negligent failure to supervise, unfair and deceptive business practices, breach of contract, and violation of the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Statute.
