Commonwealth Fin was founded in 1979 and now is the second largest, privately held independent broker/dealer in the United States. Commonwealth considers itself a pioneer in fee-based asset management with the introduction of a mutual fund wrap program in 1984. From 1984 through 1987, Inc. magazine recognized Commonwealth as one of the 500 fastest growing private companies in the United States. Investment Advisor magazine has presented Commonwealth with its Broker/Dealer of the Year Award nine times. Commonwealth became a national broker/dealer with the 1992 acquisition of Kavanaugh Securities.
