The Massachusetts Securities Division is investigating Third Avenue Focused Credit Fund. The junk bond fund has frozen fund redemptions and Massachusetts regulators are scrutinizing why this has happened to determine whether investors have been harmed and whether any laws have been violated. It is unusual for a bond fund to freeze investor redemptions (withdrawals) and there may have been wrongdoing that led to this drastic action.
